Elaine Ducharme, R.N., Ph.D., ABPP is in clinical practice in Glastonbury, Connecticut. She is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology, a Fellow of The American Psychological Association, and has served as the Public Education Coordinator for the Connecticut Psychological Association. She is author of Must I Turn Other Cheek, a book about the effects of premature forgiveness on recovery from sexual abuse.
In this interview, Dr. Ducharme disputes the claims of some experts that dissociative identity does not exist. She describes some of the rewards and challenges of working with DID patients, and addresses issues such as insurance, self-care, and nuances of diagnosis and treatment.
