Description

David Sonatore, LCSW: Equine Therapy for Veterans with PTSD

Recorded June 26, 2015

David is an Equine Facilitated Therapy practitioner who completed his apprenticeship in Tucson, AZ with equine therapy pioneer Linda Kohanov (Tao of Equus).  He enhances his contributions to this burgeoning field with his experience as an LCSW, where he’s  grown a compassionate private psychotherapy practice inspired by his time spent in clinical settings ranging from the counseling of inmates in Harlem, NY to the treatment of outpatient clients at St. Vincent’s Hospital’s adult psychiatric clinic in Greenwich Village, NY.

In 2012, he co-founded The Equus Effect with partner Jane Strong. The Equus Effect is a non-profit organization providing equine therapy to returning combat veterans who need help navigating the numerous emotional challenges of both returning to civilian life and transitioning back in country for another tour of duty.
